Feature Columnists Needed!!

Here at the d20 Magazine Rack, we are in need of creative individuals who would like to contribute to the continual growth of this site by volunteering to write at least one article per month in one or more of the following feature article series:

*Adventurer's Guild: The Adventurer's Guild is filled with tales of creatures and monsters that adventurers may encounter and sometimes even fear. Writers for this feature will detail a specific creature, provide its stats, and develop some background information that will make it akin to a living, breathing creature rather than a two dimensional carbon cutout. Creative writers may even want to occasionally develop articles in the same vein as the "Ecology of..." articles that appeared in Dragon magazine.

*Cartographer's Guild: Mapping is often a challenging endeavor to gamers. This article series shows gamers some of the tips and tricks for using the various mapping programs such as Campaign Cartographer Pro (and other Profantasy programs), Dunjinni, and Fractal Mapper (and other NBOS programs). Writers for this feature series will use this as a showcase for illustrating their mapping talents and explain the process of how you achieved the final product.

*Explorer's Guild: Every campaign needs interesting NPCs. The Explorer's Guild contains characters that are ready to be dropped into a world and are suitable for NPCs or even Player Characters (if one is needed in a pinch). Each character should come with complete stats, a backstory, information concerning his personality, motivations and goals, and other relevant information that will flesh him out to be a believable individual. Here you will also find conversions of popular characters from other mediums, such as comics and movies.

*GM's Perspective: This article series serves as a source of ideas and inspiration for GMs by delving into a wide variety of topics that include such things as tips for running a campaign, ways to simplify game preparation, ideas for adventures, and so forth. Writers for this column will draw upon their own experience as a GM and impart their words of wisdom for all to be inspired from.

*Leylines: The Fey have always been the subject of great fascination among gamers and non-gamers alike. This article series covers a diverse range of subjects that relate to the fey and their cousins. See our existing articles to gain an idea of the possibilities that are offered.

*Painter's Guild: Painting miniatures can be a daunting task. The Painter's Guild series focuses on the little tips, tricks and nuances that makes painting miniatures a little less intimidating to the less experienced. Writers for this feature should have experience in painting miniatures and have the means of photographing the miniatures used in each month's article. Each article should take a "how-to" approach in addressing the topic at hand. See the existing Painter's Guild articles for more information about this series.

*Perils & Perplexities: Do players tremble in fear when they play through an encounter that you developed or a trap the you designed? Do you enjoy writing up short side trek adventures that can be played in an hour or less? This article series focuses on developing material that may be used for random encounters and side trek adventures. Article lengths will likely average between 3-5 pages including stats for this feature.

*Player's Perspective: This feature series essentially mirrors the GM's Pespective with the exception of being written specifically for the player. Here you will find new core classes, equipment, feats, prestige classes, skills and so forth that will give new options for players. In addition, articles on such things as class combinations to achieve archetypes, breaking sterotypes, and roleplaying a character better are all suitable topics.

*The Scribe's Guild: Everyone loves magic. The Scribe's Guild is a collection of all things magical in nature, be it new magical items, spells or even forms of magic. Writers for this series will offer a diverse range of articles that relate to magic. This articles, however, will tend to be short in nature.

Interested individuals should contact Steve Creech by email and include the name of the feature article in the subject header that you wish to write for. There is no minimum or maximum word length requried. The articles should be long enough to effectively make your point and relay the necessary information. Beyond that, it is up to you to decide on when the article should conclude.

Re: Feature Columnists Needed!!

I'm in a state of pressure right now, but that comes free on monday, and I will be submitting a few ideas to a couple fo these columns (I already have an NPC ready top be submitted, I just need to type up her backstory).

Re: Feature Columnists Needed!!

I'm up for doing articles, just not in one specific category, for example, I have a really good random Caves & Caverns generator that was generated from descriptions of actual cavern complexes, that includes makeup and unusual features. I would like to post this in an article and include tips for creating exciting places of adventure. I would also like to provide AAR's, (After Action Reports) on my ongoing Eberron and Star Wars d20 campaign, as well as doing articles on variant d20/3.5e options, especially in spell design, new character classes, new monsters, new magic and finally in Roleplaying instead of roll playing, and how to teach players to use the mechanics of the game to expand their game instead of having the mechanics of the game serve as a roadblock to roleplaying.

Sounds interesting. Write them up and send them in. ;-)

Re: Feature Columnists Needed!!

Hey Dirk,
Your article ideas sound very interesting. I am looking forward to seeing some of these.

I especially would like to read your AAr's. That would be cool. May give me ideas how to do such things for my own campaigns.

Get these in. ;)

I too have a few non-GM Perspective articles. I have 2 Player's ones that are pretty simple and I need to get in as I have noticed there are no articles in the Player's Perspective yet. ;)
