For this Magnificent Egos review, I will be looking at three miniatures from their Uncommon Character line. But first, I want to focus on the differences in scale. Magnificent Egos uses a 'true' 35mm scale, this means that their miniatures will look good on the table with other 25mm, 28mm or 35mm miniatures. The true scale has more realistic proportions when compared with lines that use heroic scale. On the other hand, if you are used to painting miniatures in heroic scale, some features will seem smaller than usual.

Initiative Round
Tingrim Skullcrusher, Dragon Hunter is a dwarf warrior sculpted by Geal Goumon. Tingrim is cast on an integrated base with a separate dragons head. Other than gluing the dragons head to the base, no assembly was required and the mold lines cleaned up quickly. Tingram retails for $5.99.

Isabella, the Iron Maiden is a female warrior sculpted by Geal Goumon. Isabella is cast on an integrated base. The sword arm comes as a separate piece and attaches at the wrist. The shield is also cast separately. Assembly was a little more time consuming on this miniature, as I found that attaching the sword arm was a bit tricky. Isabella retails for $5.99.

Tachum Tenkiller, Savage Warrior, is a barbarian warrior sculpted by Gene Van Horne. Tachum is cast on an integrated base with the arms packaged as separate pieces. The right arm attaches at the shoulder and the left attaches at the wrist. As with Isabella, assembly took a bit of time but clean up for the miniature was quick. Tachum retails for $5.99.

Critical Hit
I found the three miniatures interesting to paint. Each had a unique character and nicely sculpted detail. Since weapons in true scale have more realistic proportions they are the perfect place to try out the non-metal metallic (NMM) painting technique.

Critical Fumble
The points of attachment on both Isabella and Tachum are extremely fine, making assembly a bit tricky. Beginning painters may find this to be more of a challenge.

Coup de Grace
Again, I found the miniatures from this line to be nicely sculpted and very well cast. The interesting extra detailing on these items more than made up for the slightly static poses and tricky assembly. The true 35mm scale makes for a very realistic look. And, although I have know idea why it was there, the baby pig hanging out of a bag on Tingram's back was a nice touch.

Final Grade: A+ (Tingrim), B+ (Isabella and Tachum)
