It takes place, by my best guess, following the events of the War of Souls. Well, what’s the War of Souls, you ask? Unfortunately, as the book doesn’t really explain and I haven’t read those books, I have no idea. I do know it involves someone named Mina, who apparently was involved to the point of having been mostly in charge. I do know a little about her, but it doesn’t exactly apply here.

http://www.d20zines.com/v7/node/2936#comment Book Wyrms Wed, 13 Sep 2006 12:03:54 -0700 Ghostwind 2936 at http://www.d20zines.com/v7 Dragons: Worlds Afire Review http://www.d20zines.com/v7/node/1875
By Ian Strelec, Staff Reviewer

Available at FRP Games

Dungeons & Dragons: Dragons: Worlds Afire HC [Novel]
Retail <strike>$29.95</strike> Sale $23.95

Initiative Round
Dragons: Worlds Afire contains 4 short stories written by 4 different authors, each for a different world, but all pertaining to the giant magic lizards most of us know and love. With Lolth missing and her priestesses unable to mount a defense, the cities of the Underdark are going to fall, one by one. Soon hundreds - if not thousands or even tens of thousands - of drow will come streaming out of the Underdark, looking for refuge. Elistraee's priestesses will offer it to them. They'll help guide our people up into the light. They'll teach the drow to take their rightful place in the world - to not just survive up here, but thrive. The story follows two main characters - Diran Bastiaan, assassin-turned-priest of the Silver Flame, and Ghaji, his hulking half-orc companion and bodyguard. Diran was once a member of a secret assassin's cult that recruited its members by kidnapping young children and initiating them into the training. At the ceremony where he was inducted into the guild officially, a dark spirit was bonded to his soul to make him faster, smarter, stronger, and absolutely cold-hearted; that is, the perfect assassin.

http://www.d20zines.com/v7/node/1843#comment Book Wyrms Tue, 20 Jun 2006 08:53:52 -0700 Ghostwind 1843 at http://www.d20zines.com/v7 Forgotten Realms: The Ruin (The Year of the Rogue Dragons, Book Three) Review http://www.d20zines.com/v7/node/1842
By Ian Strelec, Staff Reviewer

Available at FRP Games

Forgotten Realms: The Ruin PB [Novel]
Retail <strike>$6.99</strike> Sale $5.59

Initiative Round
The third book in the "Year of Rogue Dragons" trilogy by Richard Lee Byers and published by Wizards of the Coast, The Ruin opens several months after the close of The Rite.
